On Tuesday, July 16 at 3 p.m., at Dora Park will inaugurate the testing area dedicated to drone-technology DORALab, the first urban testing area in Italy, thanks to the collaboration and implementing agreement with ENAC.

DORALab aims to promote research and innovation in the field of remote piloted aircraft and the development of a sector, such as aerospace, strategic for the economic system of the Turin area.

DORALab will be able to host the various experimental activities applied in the different sectors of the Smart City. The drones will be tested in different sectors within the Park and, once their safety and reliability have been assessed, they will be gradually implemented in the areas of the city where the new services will be provided with the authorisation of ENAC.

Companies will be able to submit their experimentation project - thanks to an always open call - on the application form on Torino City Lab website. A dedicated team will analyse the feasibility of the proposals and will proceed with the issue of the authorisations for the experimentation in the shortest possible time thanks to the simplification of the procedures.

For the management of DORALab, the City of Torino has activated some strategic partnerships, first of all with ENAC (Ente Nazionale Aviazione Civile - National Civil Aviation Authority) for the authorization and development aspects of the regulations; TIM, technological partner for the 5G connectivity aspects and support tools for route modelling; Politecnico di Torino, scientific partner for the analysis and evaluation of the experimentations, as well as training activities related to drones'technocolgy for students and professionals.

During the inauguration, demonstrations of the first projects admitted within the framework of Doralab will take place, in particular the Turincod project of Elite Consulting and the Aerial Inspection and Mapping project of OMS srl.
