Thursday, June 3, 2021: there was a press conference to present the First Circular Innovation Laboratory and Green Pie Award, a national award for high-impact projects for the smart city.
The City of Turin intends to promote the commitment to support Green & Circular Innovation through the collaboration with Green Pea to support the Green and Digital Transition.
Green Pea is the perfect scenario for green & circular projects and partners in Torino City Lab, an innovative place where you can tell the new face of the circular and digital smart city.
With TCL and Green Pea innovation and sustainability will be at the service of citizens and, in both you can test the solutions of the future and assess their impact and acceptability/ social impact/ environmental. The new circular innovation laboratory in Turin will select and experiment national and international projects based on natural based solutions (NBS) and emerging technologies as highlighted by the European and national guidelines on green and digital transition and the United Nations 2030 objectives (SDG2030).
The Green Pie Award will award the best projects of the new laboratory divided into two categories: Enterprise, (special class of the Ecohitech Award) in collaboration with TCL partners: Lumi 4 Innovation e Torino Wireless; Research, in collaboration with Icxt (Centro Interdisciplinare dell'Università di Torino per le imprese e il territorio) and the Phd in "Innovation for the Circolar Economy" of Unito.
TCL has already selected 12 projects for the Green Pie programme which, from June to the end of September 2021, will have available, for one week each a showcase space within Green Pea (corner managed by the City of Turin and Tourism Turin and Province). Of these, 4 are inside the Sharing & Circular Lab (the living lab funded under the Axto Program with which the City of Turin wanted to seize the potential of the circular and collaborative economy), 3 are promoted by TCL partners, and 5 are part of the European Projects.
Eligible projects will be characterised by three principles:
- Circular and collaborative economy. Co-development-oriented trials, testing of new systems, tools, services - including solutions and/or technology platforms - that respond to social and quality-of-life challenges and are able to promote the exploitation of social exchanges, the reuse of assets and resources;
- Nature. Proposals that use nature-based solutions (NBS) and nature as an implementing tool to achieve environmental, social and economic benefits.
- Social inclusion. Ideas that in the different phases of design, realization and final usability involve different groups of stakeholders.
In October will be held the award ceremony of the first edition of Green Pie Award.
