The aim of the project is to test the platform for seismic and structural monitoring to monitor the state of health of some public buildings in the city, including the symbol of Turin, the Mole Antonelliana. In addition, a cloud platform will be tested to experiment with new ways of alerting citizens.

The experimentation foresees the installation of six sensors on as many sites of the City that, in advance of the arrival of the surface waves of an earthquake, provide to issue early warnings to specific subjects in order to take some minimum precautions to mitigate the risk of serious accidents. In addition, the sensors can interact autonomously with building systems (e.g. to block the supply of gas, water or electricity). The same sensors can also measure the sinking and twisting of the wall on which they are installed and generate more accurate data than a mechanical detector, continuously monitoring the structural situation of a building.
