The aim of the project is to activate on the territory of the city of Turin an innovative technological solution, of public interest, that uses IoT and IoD technologies for the analysis of extreme environmental phenomena and that allows to implement urban resilience policies within the Smart City.
Artys proposes Smart Rainfall System (SRS), an innovative rain monitoring and analysis system that in real time estimates the extent and evolution of rainfall and provides maps of the precipitation field.
The SRS technology is based on the analysis of the attenuation of the satellite television signal that occurs in case of rain.
The expected effects of the project are relative:
the attraction of stakeholders working in the field of environmental monitoring, civil protection and nowcasting
the development of skills related to the topic of IOD and IoT on the territory by users
the provision of an innovative and effective service to implement urban resilience policies
informing the public
SRS, on the basis of the information analyzed, creates in real time interactive and high-resolution rainfall maps of the entire monitored area and makes them available to its users, via an online service (via web and mobile devices).
The project foresees the installation of SRS sensors in some city sites of the City of Torino and of subjects participating in the EU LIFE - DERRIS project.
